Charity Golf ClassicHall of Fame member, and a former NFL player for the Minnesota Vikings. To the right of Joe Roppe is former Pioneer Press sports reporter turned children’s book author, Sean Jensen. And on the far left is Minnesota Vikings’ Alumni Tuineau Alipate.

The Open Arms Home for Children is located in South Africa on a beautiful 70-acre hilltop property. As an established nonprofit organization, registered in South Africa and the United States, Open Arms provides love and security to children orphaned by the AIDS pandemic.

The Open Arms Home is committed to raising the children in their care to adulthood. The model is to place 6-8 children in cottages with a permanent house mother or father. The children go to pre-school on the property and elementary, high school and college in the larger community. They aim to serve the whole child: developmentally, physically and spiritually.

Open Arms Home is a human service organization. As such, the children are served regardless of background, race, economic status or religion. Likewise, donors come from all faiths and backgrounds, united in simple service to children in need.
